When it comes to the health of your garage, there are a lot of things to take into consideration. If you’re a homeowner, the energy bill almost always ends up being one of the first things you think about. Residential garage doors are not known for being the most energy efficient and that’s why companies have developed a way to insulate these garage doors. Using foam inserts, you put these panels over each section of the garage door to create some form of insulation.
The big question here is do they work. The answer is a bit more complicated than that. When the door is closed, the foam pulls together to create a tight seal. The problem is when the door opens, that seal undoes itself. This can also cause issues with the door and you wouldn’t want to pay for the cost of garage door repair. This can also lead to broken springs because of the tension and stress you are applying to the doors. Garage door companies are much better suited to do an installation like this, but it’s really hit or miss on whether or not you’re actually saving a substantial amount of money.
